Brakes are arguably the most important car parts. But they are often overlooked, or taken for granted that they will just work when you need them to. Since brakes were invented there have been great changes to them and we now have modern ABS technology in every car. Below are some simple maintenance tips for the brakes, whether that’s the brake discs, brake pads, brake fluid, brake caliper they all make up the full braking system and need to be checked regularly.
Brakes rely on a reservoir that contains the brake fluid, which is situated under the bonnet. Not only does this component keep your braking system functioning properly, but it also ensures that pressure levels remain in check. Check the fluid once every month as well as for any cracks and leaks.
The Handbrake system sometimes needs repair and or adjustment, any sudden loss of brake fluid we advise we look at the car asap as it could have a leak.
Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years due to being hydroscopic which means it will absorb moisture over time at each service we will check the moisture content and advise you
